FIG Tree first opened its doors in the fall of 2008, with its primary focus being the horizontal development of proven oil and natural gas fields. We started our business with a belief that drilling and producing hydrocarbons can be a much more consistent and lower risk endeavor for investors due to the technology that exists today as well as our aspirations to create product structures that set the bar for investor fairness. With this approach, we have been able to create an excellent track record in unconventional resource plays in Texas and North Dakota, and we continue to focus in these areas today through new development and producing and proven reserve leasehold acquisition.
Now, FIG Tree Capital has evolved into a true venture capital firm offering options in multiple areas. Our experience in the energy sector and our ability to create successful venture capital based projects, has led to a logical expansion into additional direct investment opportunities and diversification strategies for our investor partners.
The real estate acquisition funds are designed to create an asset based asset portfolio targeting properties with existing cash flow and appreciation potential while providing investors an exit strategy in 5-7 years.
The focus of the projects are to obtain the highest possible risk-adjusted returns through the purchase of residential or commercial real estate for the specific purpose of generating income, appreciation, and tax shelter through depreciation. Our team of experienced real estate professionals uses their extensive network to select from properties that may be off market, bank owned, at auction, or pre-foreclosure, which could result in superior buying opportunities for the funds.
The primary geographic areas of interest will be the major metropolitan areas of Texas and Oklahoma, however, other geographic areas may be considered if opportunistic conditions exist.
Our technology division was created as a direct result of our reputation for successfully funding ventures in a timely fashion and the belief that continuing to expand into other direct investment areas could only provide better diversification strategies for our partners. Our company now seeks out opportunities to source capital for start-up technology and entrepreneurial based companies. The goal of these projects is to get our investor partners in on the ground floor of companies that have potential to transform current market segments, or construct completely new markets with the creation of new technology and ideas.
